Position Summary
Provide leadership, support and expertise in safety and health matterscompanywide, while developing and managing strategy and relevant programs toensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
RequirementsWork closely with senior management, divisional safety and operationspersonnel to ensure strategic initiatives are properly aligned and executedthroughout the business units in order to meet or exceed safety performancegoalsEnsure processes, programs, and procedures provide all employees with thetools and skills necessary to perform jobs in a safe work environmentDevelop/update health and safety policies, programs and systemsManage corporate vendors that provide health and safety services to MartinMariettaDevelop and present safety performance metrics to executives and theEnvironmental, Health, Safety and Ethics Committee of the Board of DirectorsProvide guidance on matters related to compliance with OSHA as well as MSHAinspection, citation and assessment activityDevelop, implement, and maintain safety compliance programs that ensure100% compliance with all local, state, and federal regulationsInform operations personnel of existing and pending health and safetyregulations/requirements, including reporting or action deadlinesAssist in completing special information requests from regulatory agencies andrepresenting the corporation in meetings with regulatory agenciesIncrease efficiency and effectiveness of safety managersRespond to requests by divisional safety staff for information or otherassistance on specific health and safety mattersReport to the Senior Vice President of Human ResourcesMinimum Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in safety, related area or equivalent experience requiredCMSP or CSP certifications desiredMinimum 10 years of health and safety experience, preferably in a mining orconstruction environmentKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesIn-depth applied knowledge of all facets of the modern safety function,including proven experience in behavior based safety processes, with aminimum of five years in a management rolePrevious experience managing health and safety issues on both local andcorporate level across multi-state operationsMSHA agency management experience, with OSHA/DOT experience a strong plusAbility to work effectively with senior operations management and field safetystaffStrong organization and communication skills, both verbal and writtenExceptional relationship building and influencing skills as well as theability to win the confidence and trust of employees at all levelsDemonstrated experience effectively managing consultantsProficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)Able and willing to travel 30 - 55%
