As a Director of Staff Development, thepurpose of your job is to direct educational programs for staff inaccordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards,guidelines, and regulations. Experience & Education: Must possess, as aminimum, a Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited school ofnursing, college, or university. Must be CPR certified. Must have as aminimum, one (1) year Nursing Supervisor experience in a long-term carefacility. Must have one (1) year experience in staff education. Duties &Responsibilities: Ensure that general orientation is completed for allemployees Conduct job specific orientation for Nurses and CertifiedNursing Assistants Develop and implement educational programs based onidentified needs to ensure the knowledge and skills of personnel Developand distribute annual and monthly education calendars Maintain a libraryof resource information and self-study programs for facility staffMaintain staff development records accurately and timely Conduct C.N.A.training programs as required by the facility Contribute to effectivecommunication and pleasant working conditions Contribute to and promotepositive resident and family relations Demonstrate leadership skillsOther duties assigned by manager Specific Requirements: Must be able toread, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possessthe ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrantsuch actions. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel,residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel andthe general public. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medicalpractices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelinesthat pertain to long term care. Must be knowledgeable in the privacyrule, comply with facility?s privacy practices, train staff in the sameand provide additional training if changes are made to policies and/orthere is staff non-compliance. Must possess leadership and supervisoryability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional andnon-professional personnel. Must possess the ability to plan, organize,develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives,policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing qualitycare. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm,as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents. Must bewilling to seek out new methods and principles and be willing toincorporate them into existing nursing practices. Must be able tocommunicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergencysituations. Must possess accurate and comprehensive assessment skills toensure standards of nursing practice.
