  Reference #: 24000109DescriptionGrade:  T28The link below will give you information about the University's "T"salary structure..A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.Summary:Responsible and ethical conduct of research is critical for excellence, as well as, public trust in academic research and education.  The Director of Research Integrity will be responsible for Temple's Research Conduct of Research (RCR) program under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Research Compliance.  The Director will oversee matters of potential misconduct, including management of all phases of the review process pursuant to applicable policies and procedures.  The Director will work closely with appropriate administrative offices and the university's Faculty Senate to facilitate and support inquiries and investigations.  A compliance management team will be supervised by the Director to support interviews, assigned inquiry and investigation activities, information sequestration procedures, and overall RCR program goals designed to create awareness and training in support of the responsible conduct of research.Temple is 7th in the nation among universities with the fastest growth in research in the past 10 years, recently reaching $323M in research expenditures. You will find it easy to fit in while staying true to yourself as part of the Research Administration team.If you value a highly collaborative and innovative team that is diverse and focused on making an impact, please join us.Essential Functions:Reports to the Associate Vice President for Research Compliance, who serves as the Research Integrity Officer (RIO), and will provide substantive leadership on all matters related to research misconduct and responsible conduct of research (RCR); Manages allegations of misconduct in accordance with applicable policies and procedures, including Temple's Policy on Misconduct in Research and Creative Work; Leads the review process for each case, including coordination with Temple's Faculty Senate on responsibilities handled by appointed committees; Supports inquiry and investigation committee activities, including guidance on policies and procedures, facilitation of interviews and related communications, and planning to meet case deadlines; Leads efforts to secure, catalog and prepare information in support of RCR activities or at the request of associated committees. Communicates and works with external agencies and organizations where appropriate, including federal agencies where federal regulations apply and other research institutions where such coordination is necessary; Develops the appropriate RCR programming, including education and training for faculty, staff, and students; ensures the provision of related resources to aid the Temple research community in conducting its research responsibly; Supervise compliance managers with primarily responsibility for supporting research integrity assessments, inquiries and investigations; compliance manager responsibilities are designed to be flexible based on the needs in the Research Compliance unit; therefore, compliance managers may be assigned to support for non-compliance matters, quality assurance and improvement initiatives and responsibilities associated with research security; Works with AVP for Research Compliance to review and update relevant board policies to ensure cohesiveness and consistency as well as ensure compliance policies are being enforced; Works closely with the fellow leaders in the Office of University Counsel, Office of Ethics and Compliance, federal sponsors, accrediting agencies, and regulatory entities; Performs other related duties as assigned.Benefits of working at Temple University include:Flexible work arrangementGreat Benefit packageGenerous time offParental LeaveTuition RemissionDynamic Workforceto learn more about the benefits of working at Temple University.Required Education & Experience:Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of professional experience related to the responsible conduct of research, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 7 years of relevant professional experience related to the responsible conduct of research.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Required Skills & Abilities:*Experience supervising investigations and staff working with assigned case loads*Experience managing quality assurance and compliance with program standards*Experience working with partner organizations to achieve compliance requirements*Demonstrated ability to build trust, resolve conflict, guide teams who are under pressure, foster collaboration, and maintain effective working relationships.Preferred:*Experience with research integrity in an academic environment; J.D. or Ph.D.This position requires a background check.This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
