Bethel University has an immediate opening for a dynamic, leader to join our team as Director of the Physical Plant!
This position will provide leadership and oversee the physical plant operations and personnel in Maintenance, Grounds, Housekeeping and Transportation Departments.
Responsibilities include:
Provide direct and daily supervision of the department heads listed above. Be involved in the interview process for new employees; enforce disciplinary actions, and terminations when needed. Supervise, and coordinate delegate responsibilities. Conduct employee evaluations and recommend for promotions.Work closely with CFO, other VPs and Student LifeMaintain BudgetPerform daily administrative activities such as approving leave and purchase requests and handling paperwork and scheduling changes.Make decisions and solve problems by combining, evaluating and reasoning with information.Oversee the Energy Management Controls (HVAC) to effectively utilize the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.Provide training on new equipment and or retraining on old equipment to keep employees current on technology.Coordinate and cooperate with local government agencies (e.g., police, fire, and city codes, MS-4 program).Oversee the Auto CAD operation and document storage.Sit on the IMT (Incident Management Team) CommitteeSit on the MS-4 Committee with the City of Mishawaka and the MSP committee for St. Joe County (Stormwater Management).Advise VP of Academics of possible school closing conditions by driving around and reporting conditions. When the decision is made to cancel classes, post information to local media outlets.Working with Contractors to secure best pricingPossible Fundraising for Projects.Building and furniture checks. Look through all the buildings and furniture to maintain a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Paint etc...Maintain: School Dude (work order system)Housing - evaluate unit before and after move-in / move-out.Assist with set up and tear downs of events.Other possible duties as assignedA college degree preferred and at least five years of related experience required.
