This position serves our partners at the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The MNIT DPS team provides technical support to an agency dedicated to prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, enforcement, and education. The team manages a large number of applications to serve 15 diverse public safety divisions located across Minnesota.
As the Director of Information Services, you will provide support for the Minnesota State Patrol on a statewide basis by developing, recommending, and evaluating the policies, objectives, procedures, and strategic plans related to all information systems and information technology. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies in technologies that support the mission of the State Patrol, this includes the collection, transmission, storage, processing, analyzing, and reporting data and information to achieve long-term goals. You will manage contracts and purchasing, and provide supervision to information technology staff, as well as IT contractors.
This position requires an employee to be onsite with the option to telework occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of broad information technology experience and expertise in application development. This experience must include two (2) years of supervisory experience. Two (2) years of experience in an external IT Architect role may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
Experience must include:
With systems development lifecycle methodologies
Overseeing large, complex projects
Thorough understanding of managing information.
Overseeing large technical teams, including recruitment, developing, retaining, leading and mentoring staff.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience planning and managing budgets.
Experience working in a Criminal Justice agency.
Experience with computer aided dispatch systems and records management systems.
Master's or bachelor's degree in an IT related field
