  How You Will Contribute

  The Director of Information and Interpretive Technology (IIT) leads the Information Technology department in all operational aspects and management of systems and infrastructure, including but not limited to servers, phones, audio-visual, helpdesk, and data network.   The Director leads the strategic planning of enhancements needed to support the needs of new spaces and programs such as storage and access to an increasing amount of digital-born assets images, video, and sound, restructuring the digital services used by staff, and organizing staff training to help develop digital competencies outside of the IIT department. 

   

  Specifically, you will:

  Direct and manage Information Technology department consisting approximately fifteen employees in audio-visual, helpdesk, system access and maintenance, business system management, and network infrastructure. 

  Develop strategic plans and implement the information technology objectives of museum to ensure the technology capabilities are responsive to the museum’s long and short-term objectives.

  Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for information technology taking into consideration the ever-shifting technological landscape.

  Evaluate overall operations of information technology functions and recommend enhancements.

  Advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integrations in support of institutional goals and objectives.

  Interact with department heads on internal and external projects impacted using technology and that require electronic dissemination of information.

  Review and approve major contracts for information technology services and equipment.

  Ensure the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.

  Oversee changes to existing computer systems and software packages and manage the development, design, and implementation of new applications where needed.

  Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

  Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the museum.

  Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.

  Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

  Implement, lead, and manage enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management platforms.

  Serve on planning and policy-making committees.

  Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.

  Perform other duties as assigned.

   

  Your background and experience include:

  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required

  Minimum of ten years of relevant experience

  Knowledge or expertise in the following: network technologies including switching, routing, intrusion detection and prevention, and firewall administration (Cisco strongly preferred), network infrastructure design, Avaya VoIP technologies, MS Applications, Windows and Linux server administration, Windows and Apple desktop operating systems and applications, storage environment administration (NAS/SAN), business continuity/disaster recovery planning and implementation, database administration, server virtualization technologies (VMWare), auditing and monitoring processes and software solutions, Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards and Pennsylvania Privacy Laws

  Ability to create clear, organized, and efficient technology systems, processes, and policies.

  Excellent communication skills

  Ability to act as a proactive teacher, mentor, and leader that will help shape the next generation of digital technologies for the museum.

  A multi-tasker who can juggle many competing priorities, allocate resources accurately and efficiently, and communicate transparently to all stakeholders is imperative.

  Able to accurately assess the work and efficiency of audio visual, network systems, application systems and helpdesk staff, provide direct guidance and troubleshooting and when required be able to perform hands-on responsibilities in these areas.

  Ability to keep current with all technologies under their direction and the applications of these technologies to informal learning environments and pursue professional development opportunities that ensure an ongoing expertise.

   

  Position and Compensation Details

  The minimum salary for this position is $175,000.

  This position is FULL-TIME, EXEMPT, and 35 hours per week.

  This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer

  Physical requirements:

  Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus

  COVID-19 vaccination required.

  Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.

  Adheres to all museum protocols, procedures, rules, and policies.
