**[Educational and Experience Requirement:[Bachelors Degree in a related field. Masters Degree preferred. Five years of experience working in international student services within higher education or a related field/experiences. Experience as a Principal Designated School Official (PDSO, F-1) and Responsible Officer (RO, J-1) is highly preferred. Knowledge of Department of Homeland Security and US Department of State regulations and procedures related to international students, exchange visitors, and employees is highly desired. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
**[Nature and Purpose of Position:[The Director of the Global Engagement Center is responsible for the international student experience at Sam Houston State University from recruitment, onboarding, and support once the students arrive to campus. As the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for the university they will lead the visa processing and have expertise to lead a team of support staff engaging with the international students as they secure the necessary documentation for their educational journey at SHSU. Oversees Study Abroad programs to include supporting faculty-led program development and recruitment and the expansion of student engagement in any form of study abroad experience.
**[Primary Responsibilities:[Responsible for assuring the academic and fiscal integrity of all international student programs and activities. Maintains university compliance with federal and state regulations governing institutions approved to host international students - Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS), etc. Serves as both the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO, F-1) and the Responsible Officer (RO, J-1). Counsels and orients all J-1 exchange visitors. Manages SEVIS reporting, re-certifications, and re-designations. Develops resources and relationships that increase international activities at SHSU and abroad. Recruits international students in partnership with Strategic Enrollment and Innovation. Assists and supports international students on campus. Supports the development and expansion of international study abroad programs and agreements. Leads the institution in developing international education partners to increase the globalization of our curriculum, and opportunities for our faculty, staff, and student experiences through the development of memorandum of understanding (MOU)s and partnerships with educational entities. The Director will do this through internal relationship building with faculty/staff to expand existing partnerships as well as outreach to establish new opportunities. Serves Sam Houston State University (SHSU) faculty and administrators interested in study abroad, international scholarships and grants, or joint projects with international agencies or universities. Administers scholarships relating to international programs and activities. Supports international visitors to campus, including all short-term programs. Approves all travel by faculty, staff, and students traveling out of the country. Approves all Electronic Personnel Action Forms for all international new hires. Advocates and promotes international programs and activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
**[Other Specifications:[Involves contacts with various government agencies, on-campus committees, professional organizations and other institutions, as well as administrators, faculty, students, and staff. Establishes contacts with other university departments and personnel, outside agencies and individuals as required. University policies governing area of responsibility.

[Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
