Simon & Schuster LLP is currently recruiting for a Director of Financial Systems. This position leads a team responsible for the development, administration, and management of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software system and other finance-related apps, such as TM1, the Royalty Account System, Concur, etc.
The Director must engage key stakeholders, recommend department technology priorities, and align resources for successful completion of projects while maintaining current technologies and tools used by the firm’s Finance department. Blending program management, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, engineering, process improvement and organizational change management capabilities are key to success. The Director will manage a team and must foster an environment that motivates high performance, accountability, and quality.
Responsibilities
Working with the Finance team, Controller, and IT, manage and prioritize financial systems improvement projects, aligning financial system goals to technology needs and roadmaps
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business priorities and organizational goals, recommend scalable solutions leveraging technology, implement those recommendations and provide regular communication updates
Lead the vision, strategy and roadmap to optimize/deliver core business processes across key financial systems
Provide executive leadership and support across the Finance portfolio including strategic planning and resource allocation
Provide leadership for the Finance functions of financial controls, business process and technology strategy, communications, and training
Maintain Finance IT systems while controlling IT risk and operational performance of those systems
Plan and manage user acceptance testing for financial systems projects
Provide end-user training and support
Support the finance team with ad hoc reports and other requests
Set priorities for the team and ensure alignment, resourcing and governance with key stakeholders
Conceive, organize, promote and implement effective Finance IT initiatives and ensure that program milestones are accomplished, and timelines are met
Recruit, manage, and develop a strong, engaged, high performance-oriented team
Manage the relevant 3rd party vendor relationships
Provides leadership and direction for management reporting
Other duties as required to meet the full requirements of the position
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (degrees in Finance and/or Accounting also acceptable with relevant technology experience)
10+ years total finance experience
5+ years in a financial systems role supporting Oracle ERP (EBS and GRC experience preferred)
Demonstrated experience with system maintenance, design, and implementation
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and think clearly in challenging situations in a logical manner
Well organized, data driven and able to manage multiple projects/ stakeholders
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task various projects
Experience with any of the following will be considered a plus: IBM T1, Cognos, Concur, Royalty Account System etc.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
