　　THE ROLE

　　You will lead an R&D function with a proud legacy of delivering innovative hardware & software technologies that protect healthcare professionals and patients across the world. You will be a visible and impactful leader at FHS and have extensive interaction with the most senior executives across Fortive. You will lead the way to expand our software capabilities to transform our business and drive even more value for our customers. The role: You will lead a global team of industry-leading R&D professionals in the research, development, commercialization, and validation of hardware and software products across biomedical testing and simulation. Your team’s work will underpin the accelerated introduction of transformative and innovative products, particularly in software, that meaningfully improve healthcare outcomes and protect our everyday heroes.

　　Develop an inspiring vision and create a culture of collaboration and risk-taking for a global engineering team (including hardware development in the US and Sweden and software development in India) that creates game-changing innovation in connected hardware and software solutions.

　　Attract, retain, and grow top-tier research and engineering managerial and technical talent. Create a culture where best-in-class talent will thrive. Provide inspired leadership and mentorship to the global R&D team. Enable them to grow professionally. Challenge them to set aspirational goals. Create followership.

　　Drive hardware and software development best practices and strategies.

　　Engage and support research and development activities with outside institutions and vendors.

　　Enable and empower R&D staff to drive tangible value and deliver exceptional customer outcomes. Ensure the function is optimally structured to drive success. Create organization and talent strategies to drive innovation strategies.

　　Own the development stage of the New Product Innovation process. Lead project prioritization and selection, and on-going gate reviews, ensuring that the right portfolio balance is achieved and aligned with strategic goals.

　　Drive alignment across all functional areas in support of delivering on product roadmap commitments. Ensure projects are completed with exceptional quality, on-time, pursuant to spec and within budget. Own insights into the technology landscape for competitors, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards that will alter our innovation approach of the future. Identify and validate prospective breakthrough technology for deployment in partnership with other functions.

　　Meaningfully contribute to strategic planning that positions FHS for long-term success.

　　Provide strategic vision into common software and hardware product infrastructure.

　　Closely partner with Regulatory Affairs in offering all necessary data / input for regulatory submission and requirements.

　　Qualifications:

　　You are an accomplished, curious, and dynamic R&D Leader and strategic business partner with a proven track record of delivering innovative, transformative technologies across connected hardware and software. You are an inspirational leader with the ability to teach, train, and develop great talent. You see the “big picture”, though remain detail-oriented and hands-on.

　　Prior product engineering leadership experience is required. Strong preference for experience in connected capital equipment and digitization strategies.

　　Previous experience managing hardware and software teams.

　　Thorough understanding of the agile software development process.

　　Proven ability to attract, retain, and develop exceptional R&D talent across the world.

　　Preference for a European-centric (Sweden) location allowing for up to 50% time in person in Sweden

　　Education: Advanced degree in engineering

　　A collaborative leadership style with the ability to drive change and build followership across multiple business units, locations, organizational levels, and functions.

　　Proven ability to coach and mentor teams to drive best practices, develop team capabilities, and align the function with business strategy.

　　Strong organizational skills, exceptional subject matter expertise, a high degree of adaptability, and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities.
