　　Position Summary:

　　Assures optimum quality care in Emergency Department.Serves as resource person for staff, patient and family.Assumes 24 hour responsibility for unit.Responsible for daily unit functioning of the department, assist with hospital disaster planning, active member of quality teams and performance improvement teams, and Customer Relations.

　　Assessment of unit, patients and staff needs.

　　Plans for meeting the needs of the patient, staff, physicians and hospital.

　　Performs management duties for units.

　　Initiates self-development mechanisms for professional development.

　　Delivers patient care appropriate to age of patient served.

　　Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

　　Minimum EducationGraduate of a Program in Discipline Required

　　Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

　　Required Licenses[West Virginia, United States] OtherCurrent licensure by WV State Board of Nursing

　　Minimum Work ExperienceFive (5) years of nursing experience in the emergency department.Knowledge of all aspects (clinical and non-clinical) of the emergency department and regulatory agencies.
