About Director of Development

What's the difference between a job and a rewarding profession?

One is simply a means to an end; the other provides meaningful work with a sense of purpose and belonging.

At The Retreat, we believe the work we do is meaningful and rewarding. We are committed to ending intimate partner violence in our community by providing no-fee counseling, legal services, shelter, and education programs to anyone experiencing abuse or sexual assault.

The Retreat offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a generous paid time off policy. Our uniquely structured benefits package means little or no cost to the employee.

Director of Development - Full- time, Hybrid position: 3 days in East Hampton office and two days working remotely.

The Development Director supports the mission, goals and objectives of the Retreat by developing and implementing short and long-term fundraising goals as part of a comprehensive revenue model. The Development Director is responsible for identifying prospects, establishing effective fundraising techniques and marketing the organization. The position supports the Executive Director and is an integral member of the leadership team.

Donor Development: Working together with the Executive Director, establish and implement a donor development plan for the organization. Plan will address annual giving, corporate sponsorships, major gifts, direct mail, special events, third party events, on-line fundraising and planned giving programs.

Events: Plan, administer and implement (in collaboration with the Development team members) all fundraising events associated with the agency.

Community Relations: Working closely with the Executive Director and management staff to create and disseminate compelling publicity about the Retreat using a wide variety of media.

Finance Support: The Development Director will work together with the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer in developing budgets that ensure sufficient accounting and recognition of agency financial goals.
