Rowan University is seeking an engaged and strategic communication and marketing leader to focus on the new and innovative Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences (VHC) in Stratford, New Jersey. This exciting opportunity will be critical to the growth and development of the partnership between Rowan University and Virtua Health System.

　　ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

　　Reporting to the Vice President for University Relations, the director shall develop, execute and lead marketing and communication strategies and campaigns to promote the Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences of Rowan University, including the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions, the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences, Rowan Medicine, and centers, institutes and departments.

　　As the health college’s main communication strategist and writer, the director will collaborate with the VHC Communication & Marketing team and University Relations to develop strategic communication and advertising campaigns, speeches, press releases, stories, websites, social media postings, reports, college-wide emails and such.

　　The director oversees marketing performance and data analytics to ensure the College is best positioned to reach its key constituents and target audiences, including prospective students, faculty, researchers, donors, community leaders and partner organizations.

　　Key areas of oversight and responsibility include:

　　Brand management, including communication, marketing planning, and hiring/negotiating with vendors

　　Media relations (responding to media inquiries; writing and pitching stories)

　　Budget management

　　Staff development and recruitment

　　Video production and photography

　　Graphic design

　　Special events, including local, regional and national conferences

　　Although reporting directly to the Vice President for University Relations, the director shall counsel and address the needs of the VHC vice president, deans of the schools, directors of institutes and centers, faculty, and alumni and student groups as needed. The director will also work closely with Admissions, Student Affairs, and Advancement to help shape and deliver the brand messages for the College and its entities. This role will also periodically collaborate with the Virtua Medical Group and Virtua Health.

　　EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

　　Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill and understanding of writing, editing, proofreading, publishing, marketing, organizational coordination and/or facilitation.

　　Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a communication, editorial or marketing role, preferably in higher education and/or academic medicine.

　　Requires relevant experience in an administrative function, social media platform proficiency, good communication and interpersonal skills and computer literacy.

　　Superior writing, editing and verbal communication skills.

　　Demonstrated knowledge of developing and maintaining website content and the latest trends and best practices in content strategy and user experience design.

　　Understanding of user experience design principles and the ability to design user experiences that are optimized for user engagement and conversion.

　　Knowledge of SEO best practices, analytics tools and the ability to analyze data to measure effectiveness and make recommendations to optimize content.
