This position requires a minimum 8 hours per day 40 per week
Purpose of this position
This position oversees the Activities and ensures that each resident is offered appropriate recreational opportunities in the facility. To maintain an organized, diverse program of individual and group activities which enable each resident to engage in cultural, spiritual, diversional, physical, political, social and intellectual activities with-in the facility and community in order to sustain and promote on individual’s potential and sense of usefulness to self and others.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and valid drivers’ license required. Is a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist who is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist by a recognized accrediting body on or after August 1, 1989; OR has two years of experience in an age appropriate social or recreational program within the last five (5) years, one of which was full time in a patient or resident activities program in a health care setting; OR is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant OR associates degree in recreation field, or related field.
Salary Range
$17.00 per hour(min) -$23.53 (max) per hour
Purchase appropriate materials and equipment within department Budget
Reviews and approves activities schedule providing minimally 10 hours a week availability. Evenings and weekends included
Schedules and Plans large events, coordinating with other departments effectively
Attends department head meetings and other meetings as scheduled
Manages annual budget and provides Administrator with input on needs
Writes an initial assessment and activities plan
Writes progress notes to indicate individua; responses and involvement at least quarterly and more often if needed for each resident
Maintains records of attendance for each activity covered
Plans and carries out a schedule of programs to meet the individual activity plans to include bus trips, special evets and individual pursuits
Posts, announces and informs residents, staff and families of the scheduled activities in a timely manner
Post event information and pictures via Social media page
Provides calendars to residents, staff and families as requested
Attends in-services, (assures staff is up to date on all in service information)
courses and seminars to enhance knowledge of activities field
Participates in professional organizations
Coordinates room and equipment use
Decorates facility for current season or event
Assures coverage of activities and follows calendar
Schedules use of Christ Chapel
Operate electronics and facility van
Follows required safety procedures
Interviews and Hires staff as needed
Evaluates and disciplines staff in a timely/accurate manner in accordance with policies and procedures
Presents appropriately for the position in regards to professional image of LSS safety and Hygiene
Works as scheduled
Maintains a pleasant, positive and professional demeanor in all interpersonal relationships
Communicates clearly, accurately and timely both verbally and in writing
Works to improve self and Shares Knowledge with team members
Provides a positive experience to external and internal customers
Adapt to changes in the work environment and performs well under pressure
