The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School and rated #1 2023 Best Public High School Teachers in Louisiana according to Niche.com (https://www.niche.com/k12/louisiana-school-for-math-science-and-the-arts-natchitoches-la/) , is a selective admission, residential high school for Louisiana’s gifted and high-achieving students.

The successful applicant’s primary responsibility will be to serve as the chief academic officer and is responsible for providing leadership and vision for all academic programs, and research initiatives. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or terminal degree in academic area, or a Ph.D. in Higher Education.
5 years of full-time teaching experience in a college preparatory high school or University
Three years of administrative experience that can include department level or on-going committee leadership.
An understanding of contemporary issues about adolescent learning, and best practices.
An understanding of state and federal guidelines for secondary schools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with faculty and students in an extended school day or residential setting.
Experience supervising staff of four or more, including their annual planning and evaluations.
Experience leading a faculty with diverse strengths, interests, and motivations.
Evidence of ability to design and implement training programs.
Knowledge of adolescent learning models that align specifically with a public residential school.
Job Concepts
Candidate responsibilities include:
Lead and supervise a teaching faculty responsible for college-level instruction, advising, and support; and a staff responsible for college counseling, online learning, academic support, registration, record keeping, data management and books and teaching materials.
Communicate internally (students, faculty, staff) and externally (parents, alumni) regarding the academic program and academic services; including website, mailings, and day-to-day.
Work with the Executive Director, and at his/her request, participate in the overall leadership of the school.
Oversee Special Projects, Connections Weekend, and student research, and assist the Director of Student Services in programming for the Living/Learning Community.
Respond to concerns and ideas (parents, students, staff) and honor code violations.
Encourage curriculum development and develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures for academics.
