Position Purpose:
We are seeking a seasoned and reliable Director of Logistics to spearhead and optimize freight activities across Core-Mark's four redistribution centers. This strategic leadership role is pivotal in transitioning our operations from a PPD to an FOB environment, particularly in managing inbound freight. This position is based at Core-Mark International in Westlake, Texas, and reports directly to the Vice President of Redistribution. This position is based in Westlake, TX.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute strategic initiatives to streamline freight activities and enhance overall logistics performance.
Provide visionary leadership to align the logistics department with organizational goals and objectives.
Create and deliver a best-in-class Inbound Logistics process for our all OpCos
Team Management and Development:
Oversee the training, development, and daily operations of the logistics department, ensuring a high-performing and skilled team.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the logistics team.
Vendor and Carrier Relations:
Lead negotiations with vendors and carriers to optimize logistical leverage and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners in the supply chain.
Problem-Solving and Change Management:
Proactively identify challenges and implement creative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Drive change management initiatives to adapt to evolving business needs and industry trends.
Financial Oversight:
Approve carrier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial controls, including compliance with SOX.
Oversee timely processing of freight claims, minimizing financial impact and maintaining compliance standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Foster open communication with Operations, Purchasing, Vendors, and Carriers to ensure seamless coordination for the timely delivery of products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align logistics strategies with broader business objectives.
Process Evaluation and Improvement:
Manage and evaluate logistics processes, identifying opportunities for cost-effectiveness and improved efficiency.
Implement data-driven decision-making, maintaining metrics and analyzing data to assess performance and drive continuous improvement.
Project Management:
Take on additional projects and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to contribute to the broader success of the organization.The ideal candidate should possess:

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Possess a minimum of 5 years of logistics experience in the wholesale/retail industry, with a focus on food distribution (experience in fresh & dairy logistics is a plus).
Prior experience in a Convenience logistics or redistribution role
