Reporting to the Vice President for Children and Family Services, theDirector for International Programswill lead the organizational strategy in developing and overseeing innovative and effective services related to the international protection of unaccompanied children, youth, and their families, and promote effective policies through program management and advocacy.Global Refuge, formerly known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS), is a nonprofit serving newcomers seeking safety, support, and a share in the American dream. DUTIES
Contributes to the mission of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service by providing day-to-day oversight and direction to a program area.```{=html}
```- In conjunction with the Vice President for CFS and other program directors establishes and carries out the strategic direction for the department.

```- Hires, trains, and develops staff to fulfill the functions of the department including evaluation, training, technical assistance, program management, and coordination.

```- Holds staff accountable for delivering quality work on time. Mentors and manages performance as necessary.

```- Secures and maintains funding for the department by assisting with identification of funding sources, writing grants, and reporting.

```- Acts as a subject matter expert in their area of expertise and represents the department internally and externally.
```{=html}
```- Creates and manages budget for the department.

```- Acts as role model and exhibits a high level of leadership, fosters transparency and is fair in all dealings with staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in social work, international development, or related field```{=html}
```- Eight years prior experience with refugee or immigrant children, understanding of social and political issues at stake in serving them.

```- In-depth understa ding of policies and programs related to refugee resettlement, unaccompanied children in migration, human trafficking assistance and/or asylum required. Experience in more than one sector strongly preferred.

```- Minimum of eight years of work experience in the field with at least six years progressively responsible experience developing, implementing and managing multiple programs, staff, and project and budget administration.

```- Experience in directing complex government grants, contracts or cooperative agreements including responsibility for compliance and reporting.

```- Has in depth knowledge of government funding. Demonstrated ability to secure private institutional funding highly desirable.

```- Must be able to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
```{=html}
```- Alignment with and support of GLOBAL REFUGE's core values.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing and able to clear a criminal background check for the past 7 years.```{=html}
```- Must be willing and able to request and clear Child Abuse and Neglect background check in all states lived within previous 5 years, updated yearly.

```- Must be willing and able to obtain FBI fingerprint check every 5 years.
```{=html}
```- Must have valid driver's license and MVA check free of major infractions for the last 7 years.
