JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SPECIFICS Title: Director Birth & Women\'sCare Center FTE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) Schedule: Primarily MondayFriday, 8:00AM 5:00PM POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for management anddirection of the day-to-day activity of the Birth Center and Women\'sCare functions. Serves as liaison with physicians and staff to ensurethat the highest level of quality care and support is provided topatients. POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Directs departmentalactivities to achieve SPH\'s strategic goals and initiatives. Conductsshort and long-term planning for the Birth Center and Women\'s Care. Inconsultation with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) develops Birth Centerdepartment operation plan, philosophy, and objectives including qualityassurance. Plans, organizes, directs and supervises all functions of theBirth Center and Women\'s Care. Utilizing financial acumen, developsefficient workflows within and outside of the Birth and Women\'s CareCenter to foster high-quality care. Develops and maintains nursingobjectives, standards of care, policies and procedures, patientimprovement programs and educational in-services. Acts as a liaisonbetween department\'s nursing services and medical staff and other SPHdepartments. Works closely with CNO for direction when unresolved issuesarise. Ensures the coordination of care across SPH services for women ofall life stages by connecting them to important services and resourcesat SPH (e.g., OB/GYN, primary care, oncology, cardiology, breastimaging, urology, general surgery/GI, Wellness, behavioral health).Supports ongoing collaboration with tertiary and other providersensuring that resources are utilized appropriately to the full extent.Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates community outreach directedat women\'s health needs through education programs in collaborationwith the Community Marketing Department. Provides patient teaching onprenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, and women\'s health topicsincluding cardiac, breast, behavioral and genitourinary health. Serveson hospital committees as assigned including: The Women\'s HealthSteering (Lead), OB/Newborn Committee (Serve), Fetal Loss Committee(Oversight) and provides work team oversight as needed. Participates inobstetric and newborn quality meetings at the regional, state, andnational level. Develops staffing and department policies and proceduresfor the Birth Center and Women\'s Care areas. Manages and schedulesdepartment. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Required: Bachelor\'sdegree in Nursing Preferred: Master\'s degree in nursing/nursingleadership or business/healthcare administration Experience: Required:Five years of registered nurse experience, with at least two years ofnursing experience in a birth center setting. Nurse leadershipexperience as evidenced by but not limited to, performance of functionssuch as: experience in a House Supervisor or Charge Nurse roleleadership/management of a clinical team in either a clinic or inpatientsetting. participation in employee evaluations and/or recruitment andselection functions leadership of significant process improvementinitiatives significant precepting responsibilities Preferred: One ormore years of actual supervisory experience in a clinical nursing unit,ideally a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum setting.
