About Direct Care Worker I

  AMHERST, ATHOL, GREENFIELD, HADLEY, ORANGE, WHATELY FULL AND PART TIMEALL SHIFTS Direct Care Worker I This is an open and continuous postingfor full-time and part-time positions on multiple shifts throughout theWestern MA Area of the Central/Western Region of DDS. The Department ofDevelopmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicantsfor the role of DIRECT CARE WORKER I who are committed to buildingmeaningful relationships and provide outstanding care and service. TheDirect Care Worker role provides programmatic direct care services andsupports to individuals with intellectual and developmentaldisabilities. This is to be accomplished by the provision of anenvironment consistent with participants\' needs in daily living andthose skills necessary for community life. Please Note: Based onassignment, candidates may be eligible for various pay differentials.Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain arespectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship withindividuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Capacityto assist/lift individuals with physical disabilities and/or limitedmobility; Aptitude to transcribe, read and comprehend the Englishlanguage Agency Requirements: Possess current and valid Class D MotorVehicle Operator\'s License Applicants must pass the MedicationAdministration Program (MAP) certification Upon successful completion ofa training program, incumbents must obtain and maintain CardiopulmonaryResuscitation (CPR) and First Aid (FA) certification Duties andResponsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not allinclusive): Provide support to individuals by assisting in thedevelopment and implementation of habilitative, behavioral andrecreational programs in accordance with the Individual Service Plan(ISP) objectives Coordinate with direct supervisor(s) to ensuresuccessful implementation of ISP\'s, use of appropriate methods,coordination of services and crisis intervention Assist and facilitateactivities of daily living, such as household maintenance, self-care andhygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure activitiesand socialization skill development Attend individuals\' review meetingsand accompany them to various appointments; Transport individuals towork, recreational activities and other engagements as needed Maintainindividuals\' confidentiality and records; preserve individuals\' humanrights by complying with applicable laws and regulations About theDepartment of Developmental Services: The mission of the Department ofDevelopmental Services (DDS) is to create innovative and genuineopportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmentaldisabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder to participate fully andcontribute meaningfully to their communities as valued members. DDSserves over 43,000 vulnerable individuals throughout their lifetimes,providing a spectrum of day, employment, and residential supports. Theagency directly oversees and manages \$3 billion in public funds(\$2.7B+ operating budget) and approximately 5,500 staff, the largeststate employee workforce of any agency in the Massachusetts executivebranch of government.
