Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II in the ITSB Web Development Office, the Information Technology Specialist I support information technology systems as they relate to website design and development. The incumbent is responsible for broadly defined specialized analytical and technical activities and work assignments to support the California Energy Commission’s internal and public-facing websites. The incumbent coordinates and contributes to the development of guidelines, best practices, and training that will guide the California Energy Commission to deliver products and information with meaningful relevant digital experiences for users. The incumbent plays a critical role in fostering digital UX/UI efforts and usability standards within the California Energy Commission.

Working Conditions
The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

Desirable Qualifications

1) A minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in user design (UX) and user testing of websites, applications, and/or multi-channel digital experiences. 2) Strong ability in user experience skills: information architecture, user flows, wireframes, content structures, user research and analysis, and personas. 3) Applied knowledge and experience in documenting and explaining best practices to staff with varying levels of technical expertise. 4) Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with staff and management. Clear, concise, and respectful written and verbal communication abilities is essential. 5) Ability to adapt and learn new skills, and support latest technologies, and UX/UI trends and techniques.
