Dowhas an exciting and challenging opportunity for aLead Developerin one of Dow’sDigital Centerslocated inMidland, MI! The role will align to Dow's Design Your Day approach and allows employees flexibility by choosing when to work remotely and when to attend on-site activities based on project work and role needs.
About you and this role
Dow’s Digital Centers are focused on driving and accelerating our Digital Dow strategy as they spearhead digital capability and solution ideation, exploration, concept proofing, and pilots across multiple business process and business digital theme areas. The centers work both separately and collaboratively as required to enable value and achieve desired business outcomes. Individual Centers are focused on driving digital innovation in partnership with Dow sites, regions, functions, businesses and aligned Business Digital Themes and set goals specific to their areas of emphasis, in alignment with their key partners.
As the Digital Center Lead Developer, you will be a member of the Digital Fulfillment Center (DFC). In this role, you will be responsible for leading a scrum team through design, development, and implementation of workable digital solutions that meet business and functional stakeholder requirements, while exploring and prototyping the latest technologies. You will be a proponent and practitioner of Dow's Agile Scrum methodology and strategy. You will be a mentor to less experienced developers on your direct scrum team, work with other senior developers within the DFC, and collaborate with other Dow developers. Additionally, you will help deliver demonstrations of technologies through showcases and participate in design thinking workshops, along with event storming sessions with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Understands, practices and mentors good software design and development principles to ensure that the DFC is able to produce software of the highest quality, in the most efficient timeline, and will maintain these ideals throughout future projects
Works with the Senior Advisory Developer to define the scope and solution architecture of products
Leads the development of cloud native, scalable solutions
Understands machine learning concepts and MLOps strategies
Ensures dev team’s successful execution of iteration, including:
Identifying and mitigating risks that may affect sprint success
Identifying stories that are falling behind schedule and assist in recovery
Identifying and eliminating gaps in dev team’s knowledge / talent
Communicating and clarifying client specifications to developers
Writing (and demonstrating the writing of) maintainable, reliable, efficient, and tested code
Reviewing and upholding quality of dev team’s source code
Understands complex data sources and integrations and develops/implements necessary data flows
Implements top-tier security and data protection
Partners with external vendors and academic institutions to collaboratively design and/or build the best solutions
Develops and implements a robust set of microservices that power Dow’s machine learning use cases
Builds reusable code and libraries for future use and sharing across Dow
Contributes and enforces software best practices for Dow
Works with the Solution Manager to ensure technical feasibility of acceptance criteria and user stories
Helps shape and guide the adoption of cloud technologies that integrate or interface with legacy systems
Ensures that cross-team collaboration is happening within and outside the project team through explicit activities like knowledge sharing, architectural and design reviews and code reuse
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, 8 years relevant experience, or relevant military experience at a U.S. E6 rank or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or higher
A minimum of 4 years of software solution development experience
Knowledge of Information Technology work processes, methodologies, and tools
Experience working with modern software engineering skills, including experience with containerization
A minimum requirement for this US-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process
Preferred Skills
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field
Recent experience designing and deploying in Microsoft Azure’s Environment
Proficient knowledge in front-end and back-end development
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Agile software development methodologies and work processes, especially Scrum
Participated in application development process from requirements through implementation
Excellent Leadership & Communication Skills
Familiarity with Code and Frameworks from recent developments: ASP.NET, C#, Angular, HTML, TypeScript, Python, Bicep, Playwright
Familiarity with Common Azure Cloud Services: Azure Static Web App, Azure App Service, Key Vault, Azure Entra ID, App Insights, SQL, Cosmos DB, Functions, Kubernetes, Data Factory, Azure ML, API Manager and more
