Position SummaryThe Diesel Technician Apprentice works alongside a knowledgeable Casella Waste Diesel Technician to learn and further develop skills. The Apprentice provides maintenance, repairs vehicles and equipment, and mainly focuses on preventative maintenance and maintaining the safety of all vehicles and equipment which service our Burlington, South Burlington, Williston, Essex Junction, Georgia, Milton, St. Albans and Colchester VT market areas.
Pay: From $22 per hour. Will pay more for experience!
Key ResponsibilitiesGains an understanding of basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed by knowledgeable technicians.Learns how to complete all work orders, perform maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections in a timely manner.Performs all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations to ensure safe operations.Assists senior level technicians in performing preventative Maintenance Inspections.Aids senior level technicians on larger projects.Learns how to thoroughly identify defects requiring correction, which would affect the availability of the equipment and the safety of the equipment operator.Adjusts brakes, clutches, and other utilities that are part of the vehicle or other equipment.Adjusts hydraulic pressures and other hydraulic components of any equipment.Performs tire changes and repairs on vehicles and equipment.Builds, rebuilds or replaces hydraulic components and hoses of any vehicle or stationary equipment.Learns how to perform accurate lockout/tagout procedures.Education, Experience & QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid Class A, B, or C Driver’s license,have a basic knowledge or experience in automotive, diesel or heavy equipment diagnostics and repairand must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
This position requires successful completion of pre-employment testing, including a drug screen.
