Director, Product Development & Costing

The Global Product Development Director has oversight for driving the execution product design, development and documentation of all products for assigned product categories. This role is responsible for meeting/exceeding margin plan., ensuring that the product design/concept is executed in the most commercially acceptable way that will meet consumer expectation and the price/value that’s acceptable by the consumer. We’re looking for a collaborative team player who can build strong internal partnerships with design, merchandising, and supply chain to understand their needs and strategies.

How You Will Make a Difference
What you will do:
Direct the development of product that meets Dickies’ brand requirements for quality, value, cost, delivery and profitability.
Direct the product development costing team to meet margin expectations for all products.
Build a high-performance global product development team and fostering a continuous learning to improve processes, problem solving and development skills. In addition, maintain and mentor a professional development team.
Build strong partnership with VF Global Sourcing, Global Materials Supply, and Global Product Costing teams to ensure product strategies is communicated clearly and supplier directions is in line with Dickies’ goals.
Monitor vendor performance working with VF Global Sourcing in review of vendor score cards for on time deliveries for development, cost savings, and general lead time.
Work closely with the Raw Materials team on innovation products from ideation to product launch.
Monitor product quality and work with Technical Design team on quarterly product review.
Take on additional responsibilities as assigned from the Senior Director of Product Development.

Skills for Success
Years of Related Professional Experience: 10+ years professional experience in apparel product development with minimum of 5 years managing a global team.
Educational Position Requirements: A formal education and subsequent undergraduate/graduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
What we expect you already know:
Strong analytical and organizational skills for processes and decision making, and capable of executing strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective communicator.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric, finishes and color.
Working experience with PLM systems.
Need to have strong computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook, and Database programs. Illustrator and ERP experience a plus.
Strong negotiation skills.
Results oriented.
Ability to travel to overseas facilities as needed.
Multilingual communication considered a plus.

Hiring Range :
$140,800.00 USD - $176,000.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential : This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
