Position Details:
Hybrid
Full Time 40 hours per week
1st shift: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
However, work schedule flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the job.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In the Department of Developmental Services this class is accountable for directing nursing services at a training school or in a region.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Member of Regional Executive Management Team.
Administrative and management oversight of regional psychological and behavioral health services, regional allied health services.
Supervision of Self Advocate Coordinator assigned to the Health Services Division.
Conduct training and presentations as requested.
Coordinates and oversees Do Not Resuscitate process.
Collaborates with Quality Management Director.
Participates in Programmatic Administrative Reviews and discharge meetings.
Community hospital liaison to address issues, placements, and transition.
Oversees dental clinics.
High visibility in region.
Works closely with private providers.
Works in conjunction with Individual, Family and Self-Determination Division and Private Division.
Monitors and collaborate to prevent nursing home placements.
Assists in Southbury Training School transitions into the community.
Participates in regional and statewide Mortality Review Meetings.
24/7 responsibility for regional health services.
Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Considerable knowledge of
principles and practices of nursing;
nursing trends and resources for individuals with an intellectual disability;
Knowledge of
and ability to apply management principles and practices;
relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations;
community nursing;
current developments in field of nursing;
interviewing and counseling techniques;
research procedures as applied to nursing;
Considerable
interpersonal skills;
oral and written communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in hospital, institution or community nursing in a consultative or supervisory capacity working with individuals with an intellectual disability.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Supervising Nurse or Nurse Consultant.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license as a Registered Professional Nurse in Connecticut.
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
