The Deputy Engineering Manager works closely with the Engineering Manager to lead a multi-skilled team of professionals in the delivery of technical engineering services in support of fixed plant, equipment, systems, buildings and grounds at the Joint Defense Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG) and Housing and Leasing Services (HLS) sites in Alice Springs. The Deputy Engineering Manager is responsible for the leadership, management, coordination and oversight of up to approximately 60 personnel, this includes the strategic level planning, organization, coordination, development, training, mentoring, and resource and performance management relevant to the service delivery of the Engineering team. The Deputy Engineering Manager supports the achievement of corporate and program goals, participates in business development, and develops creative solutions to address complex client requirements.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Engineering team
Provide leadership, management and vision to enable the delivery of consistently high quality results that meet Statement of Work requirements and strategically focus the Engineering team.
Facilitate the design and/or development of solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across a broad array of engineering disciplines.
Ensure the appropriate and timely application of relevant expertise in the review and provision of technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and systems, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.
Lead and oversee the development and implementation of appropriate and effective systems and processes in support of integration, configuration and engineering service delivery.
Communicate technical recommendations, input, direction and advice on facilities system, infrastructure and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life-cycle management and costing.
Build and maintain close and direct liaison with relevant Government Points of Contact to ensure customer requirements remain well understood and satisfied.
Deliver corporate and program goals, participate in business development, and develop creative solutions to address complex client requirements
Ensure compliance with all site environmental health and safety requirements
Any other reasonable duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university in either Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls
Driver's Licesnse
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Top Secret, or Australian issued TSPV security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
Registered Professional Engineer or Architect
Course work or experience related to power engineering field, theory in motors, generators or knowledge of industrial controls systems

Minimum Experience:
Minimum of 7 years’ experience with facility related programs of a similar size, scope and complexity
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior Project Manager responsible for supervising project managers, engineers and sub-contractors
Demonstrated experience managing a multi-million dollar project portfolio in remote locations, and balancing resources while maintaining cost and schedules
Demonstrated experience working in a 24x7 operational environment requiring close coordination with mission operations
Demonstrated experience in timely proposal preparation and cost estimation
