　　Dental hygienist is a direct provider of care to dental patients of Jericho Road Community Health Center. Working under the supervision of the DDS the person in this position provides a full range of professional care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The full range of responsibilities will be accomplished in accordance with the policies and regulations of local, state, and federal authorities as well as accepted standards of practice. Competitive hourly rate based on job experience.

　　QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygienist Program.Possession of licensure to practice as a dental hygienist issued by the New York State Department of Education.At least one year experience in a dental office as a dental hygienist.Anesthetic certification preferred.

　　PATIENT CARE:Conduct patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure.Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth.Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides).Sterilize dental instruments and tools.Instruct patients of all ages on proper dental hygiene and care.Take X-rays of patients' teeth and develop them for dentist's use.Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures.Regularly and consistently meet quality and patient care standards established by management.

　　ADMINISTRATIVE:Assistant patient recruitment and growth of clinic.Performing documentation and establishing and maintaining patients history.Chart dental conditions based on dentist's observations and evaluations.Attend continuing education classes to maintain certification requirements.
