Overview
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Datacenter Technician II is responsible for a broad scope of operational support and install, move, add, and change (IMAC) requests supporting data center equipment.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Level II
• Racks and stacks all Data Center Equipment
• Escort/assist/supervises vendors arriving to do system repair or install.
• Performs tape rotations and participates in tape library maintenance.
• Monitors electrical usage, environmental quality and reports issues to Facility management as appropriate.
• This includes running fiber, power and Ethernet cabling within the Data Center
• Diagnoses errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
• Replaces servers, disk drives and memory and diagnose simple hardware issues
• Boxes/unboxes equipment including breakdown/trash
• Organizes packages coming in/out of data center
• Conducts fiber work (scope, light meter, cleaning)
• Produces timely and detailed service reports
• Documents processes
• Collects and analyzes performance data to provide technical assistance.
• Acts as ‘Hand & Eyes” for remote Server Operations & Networking groups.
• Maintains spare parts inventory
• Ties workflow to schedule
• Accurately documents solutions related to complex issues
• Creates workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensures issues are resolved
• Troubleshoots and develops technical solutions related to software and setup errors for field engineers, technicians, and customers
• Builds positive relationships with customers

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:
Required
• Experience supporting IT equipment or related IT experience
• Working knowledge of physical IT infrastructure components, service management
• Familiarity with server and network troubleshooting
• Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting
Certificates / Training:
Level III
Recognized Data Center certification such as CNET-CDCMP or IDCA-DCIE
Experience:
Level II
• 3+ years of data center operations experience
Education:
Required
• Associate's degree, trade school certification or equivalent
