With the expansion in scope and depth of our data driven ambition and the increased focus by regulators on data privacy (DPDP Act India), we are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated person who will be responsible for developing and implementing data privacy strategies and initiatives across the organization.
As the Data Privacy & Governance Manager, you will be entrusted with ensuring compliance with global & local data protection laws & regulations, managing data protection risks, and fostering a culture of data privacy awareness. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Data Governance and Privacy Workstreams:
Lead efforts to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, such as DPDP Bill 2023, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws. Develop and maintain data governance and privacy frameworks, procedures, and guidelines that align with legal requirements and industry best practices. Monitor and assess the organization's data processing activities identifying areas of non-compliance and implementing corrective actions. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to craft, review and update policies & guidelines around Data Privacy and Governance, as needed. Leading data governance and data protection strategy at an Enterprise level while working with Privacy, Security, IT, Procurement and Business Teams. Enhancement of Processes and Systems towards efficient compliance to the Data Protection regulations. Lead Data Governance and Privacy Audit Programs. Partner with Business and Functions to help navigate processes around Privacy, Governance, Cybersecurity and other relevant policies, towards efficient delivery of projects/activities. Updates to Senior Leaderships on Data Governance and Privacy Initiatives, Programs and Compliance Status.
Privacy Risk Assessment (PRAs):
Work with Privacy team on PRAs and provide guidance and recommendations to mitigate risks identified in PRAs. Ensure implementation of PRA recommendations and conduct necessary audits towards the same.
Training and Awareness:
Develop and deliver data privacy training programs for employees at all levels of the organization. Foster a culture of data privacy awareness and accountability throughout the company.
Incident Response:
Establish and maintain an incident response plan for data breaches and privacy incidents. Coordinate and lead incident response efforts, including communication with relevant authorities and affected parties.
Vendor Management towards Third Party Risk Management:
Evaluate the data privacy practices of third-party vendors and service providers as part of PRAs Together with legal, ensure that contracts with vendors include appropriate data protection clauses and safeguards. Programs to streamline data processors and data vendors.
Privacy by Design:
Collaborate with product and technology teams to integrate privacy by design principles into new products and services.
Data Subject Rights:
Guide and manage data subject/principal requests in compliance to applicable laws.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in data privacy management, with a minimum of 7 years in a similar role leading a team of 1-2 Data Governance and Privacy Professionals.
In-depth knowledge of local & global data protection regulations, including DPDP, GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws.
Good to have – CIPP/ CIPM/ CISM/ CISSP certification
Strong understanding of data protection principles, risk assessment, and data processing activities.
Understanding of the end-to-end Data Lifecycle: data collection, profiling, cloud storage, CRM platforms, and architecture; Performed a Data Flow Mapping activity for organizations
Demonstrated experience in conducting privacy impact assessments and managing data incidents.
Technical understanding of Digital platforms (i.e. web, social, mobile, enterprise solutions)
Knowledge of Data Security and Governance systems, technologies and processes.
Working knowledge of Data Security and its application within different businesses;
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and departments
Proficiency in privacy management software and tools.
