Summary of the Role
The role of the Data Management Specialist is to maintain databases by entering new and updating data and/or information. This individual will investigate and resolve data quality issues in enterprise applications, by using data rules and standards while safeguarding against data loss. This position will directly contribute to the overall goal of improved data quality throughout the corporation.
Responsibilities
Collects, organizes and verifies accuracy of data before it is entered, and returns incomplete or incorrect documents to the submitter or team leader for resolution
Processes source documents or source database files by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard policies, procedures, and data standards.
Enters data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information on keyboard or optical scanner according to screen format.
Compares data entered into computer with data listed on the original documents or source file, or rekeys data into the system to detect errors.
Conducts spot checks to verify that data is correctly entered.
Verifies entered data within company databases by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from multiple systems when information is incomplete; purging bad information to eliminate duplication of data.
Keep record of work completed.
Tests system changes and upgrades by inputting new data; reviewing output against expectations.
Contributes to the team by supporting team mates when transaction volumes are high.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on behalf of the company.
Produces automated reports as requested
Skills and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and results-oriented.
Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, internet and e-mail
Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to conduct research into data issues as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent is required.
1-2 years’ work experience in a corporate environment.
Computer literacy and data entry experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills when communicating via email
Familiarity with database concepts.
Ability to follow guidelines, standards, policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
Vocational Training or Associate degree is a plus.
Ability to work with a team.
Good proofreading skills.
Basic knowledge of query language and databases a plus.
Ability to enter data accurately; ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and supervisors; ability to work efficiently.
