  Position Summary

  The Data Governance Controls Analyst (DGCA) plays an important role in overseeing and facilitating the execution and fulfillment of data governance controls. This position is a crucial component of our comprehensive Data Protection program and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  Responsibilities

  Under the direction of a full-time team leader, the DGCA will utilize data governance tools (e.g., Informatica IDMC) to ensure workflows are effectively executed and the maintenance of data governance metadata.

  The DGCA will troubleshoot data source scans, placing special focus on Personal Identifying Information (PII) and Personal Health Information (PHI)

  Assess current levels of data protection including tokenized fields and/or other controls.

  Document scan results and link with various business concepts (e.g., business terms, reports, processes) as represented in NYL’s enterprise catalog (e.g., Informatica CDGC)

  Engage with data stewards and other subject matter experts as necessary to address overlooked control requirements and associated activities.

  Maintain frequent communication with team leaders and regularly engage with the broader data governance team to convey findings and updates.

  Experience

  Demonstrated ability and persistence to analyze data and solve problems

  Demonstrated ability to analyze and hypothesize cause and effect relationships

  Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes

  Effective use of SQL (TOAD, SQL Workbench)

  Effective and timely communication in verbal and written forms

  Team-oriented and able to interact with a diverse group

  A proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely (e.g., via Zoom)

  Hands-on experience with Informatica tools (including CDGC, AXON, EDC, IDQ, CDQ)

  Experience with data governance and stewardship is desired

  Basic understanding of insurance business and its products is desired

  Qualifications

  Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s degree in progress, or equivalent

  Minimum of 2 years with a role in data management, business analysis or problem solving
