Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (37.5 hours/week)
Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote after training
Duties:Incumbent enhances criminal history records by researching and collecting Court documents, and by entering this data into a designated web portal. This position requires the incumbent to collect court documentation from within Indiana, other states, Military, Federal, etc. to assist in registration efforts.
Essential Functions:Research and collect Court documents and sentencing informationAnalyze and interpret the documents collectedCommunicate with local and State law enforcement agenciesEnter data into a designated web portalPerform related duties as assigned by Division Staff
Job Requirements:Broad experience with data collection and data entry.Broad knowledge of the Indiana Criminal Code.Thorough knowledge of the Department of Correction, as well as all levels of the Criminal Justice System.Experience and comfortability with court documents and legal jargonBroad knowledge of national criminal justice research resources.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to read and process data including information on crimes that is detailed, thorough, and contains sensitive materialAbility to establish cooperative working relationships with department staff and external agency staff.
Difficulty of Work:Incumbent must be able to handle multiple, complex tasks and make good decisions based on his or her knowledge and understanding of each specific question and assignment.Incumbent must use multiple methods in accomplishing an end result or outcome of a particular task and must be timely and accurate in completion of all tasks.Incumbents work must be accurate. Consequences of inaccurate data include a negative public perception of the Department and potential public safety risks to the communities.Incumbent works independently with work being reviewed on a periodic basis for accuracy, compliance with policy, and overall Department goals.
Personal Work Relationships:Incumbent must maintain working relationships with all Department personnel to discuss projects related to their needs.
Required Skills:Bachelor's DegreeLegal research experience (e.g., Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, INcite, Doxpop) - 1 yearExperience gathering and processing documentation - 2 yearsAbility to read, comprehend, analyze and interpret criminal and administrative code, policies and procedures, legal documents, etc. - 2 yearsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work under time constraintsExperience with Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to maintain discretion when working with confidential informationAbility to establish cooperative working relationships
