About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Servers and Database Expert to join our dynamic infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing database server and serverless infrastructures, ensuring seamless integration with DevOps practices, and handling carve-out projects. This role requires deep expertise in both traditional server environments and modern serverless architectures, along with strong DevOps skills. In summary, a Server Database Expert ensures efficient, secure, and reliable data management across various servers and database technologies.

Main responsibilities

The Server and Database Expert is a strong technical expert, with proven expertise able to lead projects to be executed in various countries. She/He will handle the following areas:

Server and Serverless Management:

Design, deploy, and manage both server and serverless infrastructures on Azure (and others as AWS, Google Cloud, etc)

Monitor and optimize server and serverless environments to ensure high performance, availability, and cost-efficiency.

Implement and manage provisioning, maintenance, and lifecycle management of server and serverless resources.

Database Management:

Designing, implementing, and maintaining databases.

Ensuring data integrity and security.

Troubleshooting database issues.

Optimizing query performance.

Managing and optimizing databases in the cloud environment.

Ensuring data security within the cloud-based databases.

Addressing high-level database issues and troubleshooting.

Developing automation tools to streamline database processes.

DevOps Integration:

Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate server and serverless solutions with CI/CD pipelines.

Automate infrastructure deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.

Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for server and serverless environments using tools like Data Dog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.

Security and Compliance:

Ensure server and serverless solutions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption for both server and serverless environments.

Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of infrastructures.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide expert-level support for database server and serverless-related issues, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Develop and maintain documentation, including procedures, policies, and best practices for managing server and serverless environments.

Carve-Out Project Management:

Lead and manage the server and serverless aspects of carve-out projects, ensuring smooth separation and migration of data and services.

Develop and execute detailed migration plans, timelines, and risk assessments for carve-out initiatives.

Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and minimal disruption during the carve-out process.

Address and resolve any technical challenges related to server and serverless infrastructures during corporate divestitures or acquisitions.

Collaboration and Innovation:

Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in server, serverless, and DevOps technologies.

Evaluate and recommend new solutions and services to improve overall efficiency and performance.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide tailored server and serverless solutions.

About you

Technical background required

10+ years of experience in server and serverless solution design, implementation, and support, with a focus on complex, large-scale environments.

Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS).

Proficiency in SQL and other relevant programming languages.

Understanding of data security and disaster recovery procedures.

Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

A proven track record in managing carve-out projects, including data migration and IT separation, especially in multinational corporations.

In-depth knowledge of server and serverless architecture, infrastructure optimization, and security practices.

Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, automation, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Expertise in implementing and managing cybersecurity measures, including advanced threat detection, intrusion prevention systems, and secure network architecture design.

Experience with encryption technologies and secure data transmission methods.

Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing solutions that support robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Continuous professional development and up-to-date knowledge of the latest Serverless technologies and security trends.

Strong project management skills, with experience managing large-scale network projects, including resource allocation, timeline management, and budgeting.

Leadership experience in guiding technical teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
