Roles and Responsibilities:
The individual will be part of a team that tackles the tactical Army’s cyber security engineering challenges and delivers solutions that increase the warfighter’s survivability and lethality. In this role, the candidate will provide hands on cyber security engineering analysis, and system integration crossing multiple cyber security disciplines, such as Detection Engineering, Identity and Credential Access Management, Cryptography, Software Supply Chain, Security Operations, and Offensive Operations. The candidate must be able to collaborate and work on multi-disciplinary teams. Specialization in a specific cyber security discipline is excellent as long as you have the aptitude and willingness to broaden your skillset and “put hands on keyboard.” This is not a Risk Management Framework role.
The technical work areas include the architecture, analysis, development, and prototyping of cyber security technologies. The work will cover a variety of security areas, which may include:
Secure Cloud computing and DevOps; Mission Assurance; Zero Trust; Identity/access management; Enterprise application integration; Log Architectures and event Streaming, Computer Network Defense; Cross domain solutions; Network / Telecommunications security; Data security best practices. You will have the opportunity to make an impact on the United States Government decision making and the future use and protection of technologies.
Responsibilities include:
Providing technical expertise, engineering direction, and guidance across multiple cybersecurity disciplines and US Army projects to define systems, security, and data architectures.
Direct engagement with the Warfighter during Soldier touch points.
Assessing technology solutions; performing gap analyses and developing implementation and integration strategies to improve security operations and network defense.
Supporting the analysis, prototyping, development, fielding and tuning of tactical cyber security architectures and applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, including but not limited to: Cyber Security, Computer Science, engineering, Technology, or related field and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Demonstrate knowledge in at least one or more of the following areas:
Virtualization, containers, hypervisors and virtual switching
Cryptography
Network and Routing protocols
Hardening Active Directory and its attack paths
Endpoint Protection and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
Tuning detection rules (e.g., EDR, Security Information Event Management, Intrusion Detection Systems)
Firewalls, their rule sets and trouble-shooting procedures
Log and event streaming architectures, data normalization
Windows and Linux Operating Systems fundamentals.
Strong communications skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical decision-makers.
Understanding of cyber security implications of new and emerging technologies and trends.
Familiarity with automation and orchestration technologies.
Familiarity of systems engineering processes.
Enthusiasm and a desire to learn and grow.
Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
Applicable Cisco, SANS and/or Offensive Security certifications
General knowledge of Army and DoD operations
Active Top Secret
