Position Purpose: 

　　Provides interior and exterior maintenance and cleaning to assure a safe environment and a well-cared for Library facility. 

　　Education and/or Experiences Qualifications: 

　　To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience: 

　　? High School graduate or equivalent. 

　　? Previous experience providing custodial or maintenance services in a public building is preferred. 

　　? Ability to work without direct supervision. 

　　? Experience with decision making regarding building operational safety. 

　　? Ability to work evenings and weekends as the maintenance supervisor on duty.

　　 ? Demonstrated ability to use good judgement in all situations. 

　　? Possess a proactive public service philosophy. Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

　　? Stocks, organizes, and keeps maintenance supplies in accessible order. 

　　? Performs duties associated with opening and closing the building. 

　　? Cleans, vacuums and dusts library equipment, furniture, materials, and facilities on a regular basis. 

　　? Disposes of all refuse and recycling appropriately. 

　　? Sets-up and removes equipment, materials and furniture for Library events and special programs. 

　　? Keeps restrooms, kitchen, and facilities clean daily. 

　　? Removes snow and ice in accordance with established procedures. 

　　? Maintains lawn, trees, shrubs, and plants. 

　　? Keeps parking lot, walkways, and exterior stairways accessible to public.

　　 ? Cleans interior and exterior windows on a regular basis.

　　 ? Maintains all floor surfaces, as appropriate, by sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, or vacuuming. 

　　? Attends training pertinent to job duties and provides training to other library employees as needed. 

　　? Work with all library staff to explain and enforce library policies and procedures to patrons in a manner that ensures positive customer relations. 

　　? Relays broken fixtures, furniture, equipment, etc. to Maintenance Services Coordinator. 

　　? Serves as Maintenance supervisor on duty backup for Maintenance Services Coordinator. 

　　? Performs all other duties as needed. 

　　 ? The employee frequently is required to:

　　o Ability to reach for, handle and manipulate various sized objects. 

　　o Speak and listen to others. 

　　o See and read. 

　　o Reach with hands and arms. 

　　o Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

　　? The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds without the assistance of another person. Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. 

　　? The employee must frequently push, pull, and maneuver heavy carts or loads on a regular basis
