It is in your best interest to submit materials as soon as possible.*Want to join something GREAT and make a difference?Work for Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to assist the Commissioner, Director of Tribal Relations, the Executive Committee, and the Agency at large with issues related directly to cultural resource concerns. This includes tackling the biggest challenges facing our forests, public lands, and waters, building stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities, and advancing bold, forward-thinking initiatives that boost rural and urban economies.The successful candidate will be motivated, creative, hardworking, and have a successful track record of solving complex issues. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in climate action, forestry, conservation, environmental justice, and Tribal relations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an analytical mindset, project management experience, and systems thinking are highly desirable. We're looking for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment while planning for our state's future. Experience with Tribal Relations and Tribal Government/policy and plan development is strongly preferred.The person in this position will share our vision that builds and strengthens Tribal relations with the Department of Natural Resources and upholds our Government-to-government obligations. As the Cultural Resources Specialist, you will be working at the intersection of many competing interests and will hold accountability to the Director of Tribal Relations.If you are an expert in land management, shoreline management, and Tribal relations expect to bring big, ambitious ideas to life. Expect to be challenged but know you will have a team to support you. The Tribal Relations team at DNR supports Commissioner Franz by advancing solutions to complex challenges.

  Responsibilities:As the Cultural Resources Specialist the Tribal Relations team will entrust you to:  

  Manage Cultural ResourcesBe proficient in Tribal Relations/Government practices and Tribal Cultural Resources policy development.Bring creative thinking toLeading and facilitating complex discussions, building coalitions, and working with diverse and competing interest groups to develop solutions and resolve conflicts surrounding high-profile issues.Provide internal and external communications to accomplish.Work with programs to identify information required for Tribal Cultural Resources development.Coordinate, and support work groups on subjects of agency-wide strategic importance.Conduct research on the environmental, economic, social, and political impacts of legislation.Provide support across agency divisions, working groups, and executive leadership on diversity, equity, inclusion, environmental justice, and Tribal consultation priorities.*Required Qualifications: *

  Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working directly with Tribal communities, and environmental justice.OR any combination of education and/or experience that clearly demonstrates the ability.

  Demonstrated experience successfully
