The mission of the Critical Environment Telemetry Team is to establish and maintain the availability of essential telemetry for Microsoft’s largest datacenters. This data is utilized by multiple internal teams to operate, inform, and optimize datacenter operations.
As a Critical Environments Telemetry Engineer, you will be actively involved in the onboarding and support activities related to electrical and mechanical telemetry by a large engineering team for Microsoft’s largest and most mission critical datacenters. This role calls for proficient individual in the Industrial Controls Systems (ICS) space who are not afraid to dive into packet and register-level data analysis and troubleshooting.

Configure, validate, and maintaincritical environment telemetry utilizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
Perform data analysis and troubleshooting to maintaindata quality and availability of telemetry systems
Develop documentation and train new engineers
Provide training to datacenter staff regardingcritical environment telemetry
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or systems engineering
OR equivalent experience.
1+ years of experience in working in critical environmentswith Operational Technology (OT) such as EPMS and/or BAS.
1+ years working experience with Modbus and/or BACnet configuration and troubleshooting.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, electrical enginering, mechanical engineering, or systems engineering
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
2+ years of experience in working in critical environmentswith Operational Technology (OT) such as EPMS and/or BAS
3+ years working experience with Modbus and/or BACnet configuration and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and/or Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Experience withOTsystems integration, installation, and maintenance
Understanding of datacenter electrical and mechanical systems
Service Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
