  As a Critical Care Transport Paramedic, you will be responsible for knowing medications, administering them, the equipment, and patient assessment and documentation. The patients you will be caring for are the most critical and we expect our paramedics to work to the top of their certificate. We are looking for someone who has experience either in a tertiary care center or in critical care transport.

  Responsibilities:

  Navigates ambulance to respond to emergency calls.

  Maintains equipment on assigned mode of transportation.

  In collaboration with medical control officer, assesses nature and extent of illness or injury requirement critical care transport.

  In collaboration with medical control, administers appropriate emergency medical care as dictated by scope of practice for EMT-P in Florida.

  Communicates with medical personnel at hospital, reports/records observations, and follows directives until report and hand-off at hospital.

  Travels in assigned modes of transport for up to extended periods of time to provide care for patients.

  Functions as an advocate for the patient and their family by supplying and interpreting information, supporting decisions and facilitating communication.

  Establishes and maintains collaborative communications with other health care professionals and hospital departments. Participates in the orientation of new personnel.

  Participates in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Practices fiscal responsibility in the use of supplies, equipment and time management.

  Maintains the specific confidentiality issues of the patient.

  Responsible to complete all required departmental Continuing Education annually.

  Responds safely and without delay to calls for emergency assistance.

  Reports on time to scheduled obligations.

  Operates emergency vehicle safely and in accordance with department policy and procedures. Performs daily vehicle safety and readiness checks, reporting any actual and potential hazards.

  Displays a positive image of the department and the hospital to the general public and to other employees.

  Participates in Performance Improvement projects for the department/hospital as requested. Serves on committees/task force for the hospital and/or department as requested.

  Performs other functions related to the job role.

  Provides care and communication suitable for appropriate age-specific care. Neonatal (0 - 28 days); Pediatric (29 days - 12 years); Adolescent (13 - 18 years); Adult (19 - 74 years); Geriatric (75+ years).

  Conducts point-of-care laboratory testing as part of patient care, and participates in requisite point-of-care testing maintenance procedures to comply with regulatory standards of the College of American Pathologists, or other bodies as applicable.

  Maintains current knowledge with respect to department and hospital activities, new procedures and technology.

  Reports pertinent observations regarding patients to the appropriate person.

  Assists other emergency response agencies in securing patient for treatment / transport as needed.

  Perform daily and monthly checks to ensure continuous readiness for state inspection. Continuously meets medical requirements of the Medical Director to be permitted utilization of CCAMT Treatment Protocols

  Continuously meets all behavior, policy and procedure requirements per department expectations

  Other duties as assigned

  Education:

  Must have post high school specialized training consisting of completion of an accredited program for licensure as an EMT-Paramedic; Associate Degree in EMS preferredLanguages:

  Certifications:

  Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P or PMD) in the current State, or National License.Current Basic Life Support (BLS).Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS).Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire.Operation of emergency vehicles. EVOC - 8 Hours of Driving and 8 Hours of Lecture Time- 16 Hours total. (EVOC)Current valid State Driver's License (VDL).Complexity of Work:

  Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Work Experience:

  Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic preferred.Experience in emergency room, Fire Rescue, etc., or other critical care transport preferredPhysical Requirements:

  Must be able to perform in limited quarters, ground and air transport modes and in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Frequent bending, twisting, climbing steps or ladders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.

  Medium Work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
