  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  The Social Services Aide 1 provides a variety of services to help support the smooth operation of the Washington County Children & Youth Department. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, transportation, visitation, and record maintenance. You will plan, schedule, and provide transportation to children, parents, and families to help them attend court hearings for parenting placements or other appointments. Additional ways you will help families include scheduling, planning, and supervising child visitation as well as maintaining reports and case records. You will also assist and support agency casework staff to deliver other mandated, court ordered, and planned support to families and children in our community.   Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are typically 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.This position requires an irregular schedule and includes working evening and weekend hours.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.Note: After completion of one year of service, this position will automatically progress to a County Social Services Aide 2 at an hourly rate of $19.47 per hour ($37,966.50 per year).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.   QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Graduation from high school; orAny equivalent combination of training and experience.

  Legal Requirements:You must pass a background investigation.A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
