We have an outstanding career opportunity for aCost Accountant to join a leading Company located in theHazleton, PA.
Responsibilities :
Responsible for applying principles of cost accounting in the manufacture of products, conducting studies to provide detailed cost information by product for management analysis, and maintaining accurate material, labor, and overhead costs for each product and its applied inventory value in accordance with GAAP
Developing, setting, and analyzing cost standards
Plans, studies, and collects data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, and overhead
Analyzes data obtained and provides summary reports to management
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost
Prepares periodic reviews of bill of materials accuracy and inputs changes to BOMs as required
Prepares quotes for new items or changes to existing items
Administers the schedule of cycle counts and the process of booking adjustments and analyzing variances
Responsible for the adequacy and regular testing of internal controls for the cycle count process
Responsible for tracking and communicating slow-moving and obsolete inventory
Responsible for the maintenance of the Fixed Asset system, including tracking project spend, capitalization, and updating depreciation
Responsible for month-end close, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Participation in the Annual Independent External Audit
Provides ad hoc cost analysis and decision-making support to Operations and other staff members
Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Hiring Criteria :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience or combination
Strong knowledge and experience in Excel, Access, and ERP systems (JD Edwards a plus)
Minimum 2 years of cost accounting experience
Desired Qualifications :
Advanced knowledge in MS Word & Excel and ERP software - Preferably JD Edwards or similar ERP systems
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals
Ability to maintain confidentiality, use time efficiently, and strong attention to detail
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Self-Starter, Ambitious personality
