Reasonable accommodations under ADA. * Supervisesand cares for inmates of the County Jail within established policies andprocedures. * Maintains discipline and enforces the rules andregulations pertaining to the facility and may employ a reasonableamount of force to quell disturbances and maintain discipline. *Receives and books inmates and assigns and escort inmates to cells,dormitories or Pod areas. * Issue uniforms, bedding and other supplies;assists in the orientation of inmates; and, assists in the operation offood service. * Inspects and searches inmates and their living areasfor cleanliness, contraband and order. * May transport and overseeinmates to activities, work assignments, court and health carefacilities. * Assigns, supervises and inspects the work of trusteesengaged in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility or in thepreparation of meals. * Performs general housekeeping and maintenanceduties in the facility as needed and may assist in the operation oflaundry equipment. * Completes violation reports of jail rules. *Provides a positive rehabilitative influence to inmates within theguidelines established by the Jail Administrator. * Observes the inmatepopulation and makes periodic reports regarding their attitude andbehavior. * Prepares, presents and maintains written and oral reportsand records as required. * Dispenses and records prescribed and PRNmedications to the inmate population and maybe required to administerbasic first aid or CPR or both. * Maintains regular and predictableattendance. * Promote, get along and work in harmonious relationshipwith others including but not limited to outside agencies and countydepartments. * Be able to perform duties, follow policy and proceduresindependent of direct supervision. * Performs other duties as requiredand assigned. Must be able to handleseveral problems at once. Qualifications: *Knowledge of policies andprocedures employed in receiving, releasing and maintaining the custodyof prisoners. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, first aidprinciples and CPR. Knowledge of the operation and purpose of detentionfacilities and to the related treatment and security programs used atsuch facilities. *Ability to follow written and oral instructions,handle prisoners and public charges without antagonizing them orprovoking disorder, and to evaluate and respond to prisoners healthrequirements. Employer will require: written exam, oral interviews,psychological profile, medical examination, drug screening, backgroundinvestigation, physical fitness/agility screening.
