  About Wabash Valley Correctional Facility

  As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is a multi-level security Correctional facility for adult males. The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is located in Carlisle, Indiana. The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility has both minimum security and maximum security and offers multiple programs to meet the needs of the incarcerated population, including the Special Needs Acclimation Program or SNAP. Wabash Valley’s staff have implemented many beneficial programs to ensure a well-run facility that offers incarcerated individuals a genuine opportunity for growth while maintaining public safety. The facility is also heavily involved in the community, providing support to local food pantries, schools, and other community organizations.

  Salary:

  The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

  A Day in the Life:

  The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  Serve as regional head for the Investigations & Intelligence division.

  Train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing corrective actions and opportunities to continue professional development. 

  Conduct and oversee regional/facility investigations, including evidence gathering and testimony from defendants, complainants, witnesses, informants, and other staff members or offenders.  

  Review case reports in a timely manner for thoroughness and accuracy before submitting to Executive Director or designee.  

  Audit facility investigative offices to ensure compliance with IDOC policy, applicable regulations, and ACA standards. 

  Participate in trials, provide testimony as expert witness, and testify in court hearings.

  Maintain certain statistical data and trends involving investigative issues.

  Provide investigative assistance to outside agencies upon request.

  Conduct audits in collaboration with the Parole District Supervisors, to ensure proper evidence procedures are followed.

  What You'll Need for Success:

  You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

  High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).

  Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience in corrections, investigative work, law enforcement, or military police. At least four (4) years of experience must be in investigative work.

  Substitutions: Bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience, except for the investigative experience, with a maximum substitution of three (3) years.

  Completion of a government-sanctioned investigative training program may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. (Proof of completion must accompany application)

  Must test negative on all drug screenings.

  Through knowledge of the principles, techniques, and terminology of current investigative practices.

  Through knowledge of security procedures.

  Considerable knowledge of all federal laws, state statutes, and assigned agency rules, policies, and procedures.

  Advanced knowledge of due process and criminal and civil liability.
