Job Summary

　　Geisinger's Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking board certified / board eligible Interventional Cardiologists with a focus and passion for coronary interventions to join our cardiology facilities in Northeast Pennsylvania.

　　Job Duties

　　The ideal candidate would be an early career or a mid-career interventional cardiologist with training in coronary interventions. Although CHIP training is not a requirement, it would be strongly preferred. The current scope of interventional cardiology in Geisinger includes STEMI care, percutaneous coronary interventions, atherectomy (rotational, laser), shockwave therapy, brachytherapy etc.

　　The hospital has a robust structural heart disease program including TAVR, TEER, TMVR, Tricuspid interventions, ASD/PFO closures, etc. The facilities are also equipped with ability to insert ECMO percutaneously in the cath lab. The group has great camaraderie amongst cardiologists as well as cardiothoracic surgery group.

　　Clinical Practice Structure:

　　50% of clinical time will be dedicated to Cath lab Coverage at two campuses for procedures.

　　50% of clinical time dedicated to outpatient cardiology office practice.

　　Interventional Call Schedule:

　　Weeknight Call: 1:3 (one night on-call every third weeknight)

　　Weekend Call: 1:5 (one weekend on-call every fifth week)

　　System-wide, Geisinger’s Heart and Vascular Institute has 69 Cardiologists, 12 Cardiothoracic Surgeons, 12 Vascular Surgeons as well as 82 Advanced Practitioners. Services are provided at Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) in Danville, PA; The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital at Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) in Wilkes-Barre, PA; Geisinger – Community Medical Center (G-CMC) in Scranton, PA; Geisinger – Gray’s Woods in State College, PA; as well as select community locations encompassing an additional Cardiologists.

　　The multidisciplinary team members of the Geisinger Heart and Vascular Institute participate in outcomes and population-based research through the Geisinger Center for Health Research; molecular, cellular and genomics research at the Siegfried and Janet Weis Center for Health Research; and trials of new drugs, devices and techniques through the Geisinger Center for Clinical Studies. There is a newly instituted cardiology fellowship in the Geisinger northeast campus and there would be opportunities to train and mentor fellows as a part of the educational mission.
