Job Summary
Under general supervision, prepares and cooks food for hospital patients,hospital employees and visitors. Prepares food according to recipes,menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portionsto be served. Compiles and maintains records of food use and expenditures.Follows and implements HACCP guidelines. Complies with regulatory agencyrequir
Essential Functions:Cooks food according to menus, special dietary or nutritionalrestrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including food processor,meat slicers, mixers, buffalo chopper, and blenders.Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and foodsupplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defectivesupplies and equipment or other unusual conditions.Maintains and establishes departmental policies, procedures, objections,quality assurance programs and health and safety standards.Ensures that necessary sanitary levels are maintained thought the foodpreparation process, and that all foods prepared meet existing standards forquality, freshness, taste and appearance.
Education:High School Diploma or GED Preferred
Work Experience:Less than 1 year
Licenses:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to read and follow recipesExcellent verbal communication skills.Must have basic math skillsUnderstanding of culinary techniques and practices.Knowledge and familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., JointCommission, FDA, CLIA).Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
