The anticipated salary range for this role is between $123,000.00 and $175,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description
Manage all aspects of business operations for the SMBC Americas Division Office of the COO. Partner with business heads and HR to manage joiners, leavers and transfers. Handle adjacent HR processes including compensation, promotions, talent reviews and disciplinary actions. Manage department cost base, and partner with internal control functions to address department deliverables and escalations on a continuous basis. Prepare regular briefings for senior management. Partner with Data Governance to perform Local Data Officer and Records Management Coordinator roles in the COO team.

Support all aspects of business operations for a dedicated business unit or region. Track staff movement to monitor progress against headcount plans. Handle all logistical requirements for joiners, leavers and transfers including on-boarding, off-boarding and internal transfer cleansing. Advise business stakeholders and assistants on cost targets and policy allowances. Act as first-level approver on T&E, invoices, market data and to monitor conformance to expense policies. Handle administration of all tasks stemming from control function requirements including compliance, audit, risk management, HR and business continuity to address department deliverables on a continuous basis. Draft regular briefings on a variety of topics including headcount, costs, operational risk and resource utilization to keep COO and business heads apprised of operational landscape.

Seek out opportunities to raise profile with business stakeholders by providing timely, high quality support on routine business management deliverables. Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues across a variety of support functions, including legal, HR, risk management, audit, compliance, technology and business continuity. Leverage relationships to develop subject matter expertise and facilitate delivery of business management responsibilities. Attend industry roundtables and other forums to make connections and broaden network with counterparts at other firms as well as regulatory bodies. Align with counterparts in other regions or business verticals to share best practices and identify emerging themes.

Demonstrate an awareness of the regulatory landscape by providing timely and value-added support to COO and senior business managers. Act as first line of defense for business stakeholders on routine queries and escalations. Seek out formal and informal learning opportunities to deepen understanding of operational frameworks and processes. Apply subject matter expertise to draft high-quality management briefings across a range of topics to summarize status and progress in key areas of delivery. Leverage broad network of internal colleagues across a variety of support functions, as well as counterparts in other business units or regions, to stay current on emerging themes and deliverables.
Qualifications and Skills
Recommended years of experience: 7
Significant knowledge of financial operations and planning, risk and controls management, project management, MIS, data management and reporting processes related to commercial investment banks.
A proven history of successful project and program leadership experience driving change management initiatives across financial services organizations, PMP certification is a plus.
Strong relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills; ability to partner and leverage inter-departmental resources to achieve goals.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including to Board- and C-level Executives.
Strong problem solving and decision-making stills and a meticulous attention to detail.
