Description Robert Half is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Major responsibilities
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations Requirements - Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
CPA/MBA preferred
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Grant accounting experience
Adeptness in QuickBooks
Month end closings experience desired
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
