Robert Half is helping a successful family-owned distribution company find an ambitious candidate to fill the role of a Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Your responsibilities in this role
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Produce and provide monthly financial reports to ownership
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Requirements
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
QuickBooks Online experience
Month end closings, bank reconciliations, daily cash flow analysis
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
BA/BS in Accounting
