A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area.
Your responsibilities
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Requirements - Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Great attention to detail
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
Proven knowledge of cash flow statements
Journal entries experience preferred
Experience with financial reporting
Month end closings experience desired
Financial statement preparation experience
Foundational knowledge in financial analysis
Well-founded grasp of Balance Sheet Reconciliation
CPA or MBA preferred
