Description Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected Non-Profit company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.
Your responsibilities
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash Requirements - Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Close Process
Practical knowledge of Financial Consolidation
Command of budget management
Annual Budget experience
Accounting management experience
General familiarity with Financial compliance
Foundational knowledge in Accounting Functions
Strong familiarity with Accounting Entries
Adeptness in Financial Audits
Financial Management experience highly preferred
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
CPA or MBA preferred
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
