The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Stevensville, Michigan region. This role's duties will require planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Responsibilities
Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementatio
Requirements - Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
CPA/MBA preferred
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Foundational knowledge in financial reporting
Month end closings experience
General ledger experience required
Adeptness in Corporate Tax Compliance
Comprehensive knowledge of Financial Statement
Auditing experience
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
