Description Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Your responsibilities in this role
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies Requirements - Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Budget forecasting experience
Solid understanding of grant accounting
Strong familiarity with Full Cycle Accounting
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
CPA/MBA preferred
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
