PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Style Crest is seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team in Fremont, Ohio. The Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial health of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives. The Controller serves as a leader of the accounting function through application of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). The role will be tasked with overseeing a team of accountants who are in charge of developing, interpreting, and implementing financial and accounting concepts or techniques related to month end closing, reporting, consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, and insightful analytics to drive business results.
Style Crest is seeking a Controller with a high level of professionalism who wants to make an immediate impact on our existing team by leading projects and performing day-to-day tasks in support of our accounting function. You would need to be flexible in taking on new challenges & responsibilities and develop strong working relationships cross functionally. As our Controller, you would focus on driving process improvements, analyzing financial results, providing insights to cross-functional teams, and implementing new policies or requirements associated with internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:Lead and mentor a high-performing accounting team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and a collaborative team environment.
Manage accounting activities including but not limited to financial analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, cost accounting, inventory, mergers & acquisitions, inter-company billing, banking activity, fixed assets, lease accounting, internal controls, and sales & use tax.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
Lead the annual audit process, as well as month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
Ensure compliance of US GAAP, company policies, procedures, and internal controls. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing insightful recommendations.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Provide insights into business performance and identify areas for improvement.
Identify areas of process improvement to create more effective and automated processes and assist with implementation as appropriate.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
CPA or CMA a plus!
10+ years of public or corporate accounting experience
Team leadership experience, managing, and developing local and decentralized teams of multiple direct reports
Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role
Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
Budgeting, costing and finance experience within a relevant industry (manufacturing or distribution a plus)
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements.
Extensive experience utilizing advanced functionality of Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using IFS, Epicor (Eagle or Prophet 21), BI, or similar systems
Ability to function in a highly matrixed structure across functional, business, geographic and cultural boundaries
Detail-oriented, analytical thought process and decision-making skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
